Here is an idea: Rather than paint ourselves into a corner by choosing a political party to cheer on, why not consider practicing Non-Affiliate Politics and choose to reject Polarization Politics. Here is why:
Polarization Politics: Having an inclination to Choose, identify with, support and/or follow a political party regardless of circumstance because one believes the party shares ones fundamental ideology.
A. Polarization Politics is similar to choosing a favorite sports team; one cannot change ones mind without losing face.
B. The Party one chooses to affiliate with is not an individual and therefore not accountable as such.
C. It is difficult to seek justice from a Political Party unlike a person. How do you prosecute a Mob?
D. A “Mob Mentality” prevails within a political party; regardless of individual interests the Party takes on a life of its own; survival of the Party usurps the credibility of our elected officials;
E. Democracy is undermined when Political Parties choose which Canadians are suitable to stand for election.
F. Individual accountability by our elected officials is sacrificed to accommodate the Political Party’s interests.
G. Our Elected Official’s actions are shaped by the feeling of anonymity that one would experience in a Mob; thus increasing the potential for rule breaking.
H. Polarizing Politics encourages us argue ourselves into theoretical corners and become polarized in our thinking.
I. Polarization Politics undermined the competence of democratic institutions to govern.
J. Polarization Politics causes the members themselves to vote against their conscience.
K. Polarization Politics divides the country.
L. Polarization Politics enhances our differences rather than our shared experience, beliefs and ideals.
M. Polarization Politics interferes with reason driven debate and undermines truth.
N. Polarization Politics leads to debacle rather than debate.
